FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in sealing equipment for high-pressure fittings and seal assemblies of pump and compressor rods. The method of producing composite material and a workpiece from said material for a seal assembly is intended for use in petrochemical equipment with the following operating conditions: working medium temperature 330°C, pressure 2200 atm (220 MPa). The polytetrafluoroethylene-based composite material contains powdered copper and microfibre basalt, with a given ratio of the components. Subsequent moulding and sintering enables to obtain workpieces for sealing elements of equipment.
EFFECT: sealing elements made from said material retain operating capacity for 2-4 years, which provides improved material for reliable seal assemblies.
