FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: in the device, an infrared lens forms a thermal image in the plane of sensitive elements of a photodetector array, the output signals of which are transmitted to an information processing unit which controls the brightness of each element of an information display device, situated in the focal plane of an eyepiece, in accordance with the formed thermal image. A collimated beam formed by the eyepiece is reflected by a mirror and a spectral divider and falls in the eye of an observer simultaneously with the visible image of the observed scene. A focusing control unit compensates for the defocusing of the image of the infrared lens caused by variation of ambient temperature.
EFFECT: high angular resolution of the thermal imager and broader operational capabilities.
