FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method of removing hydrogen sulphide from a gas through contacting with a balance stream of an absorbent based on chelate iron compounds to obtain purified gas, which is output from the apparatus, and a spent absorbent which is recycled, degassed and clarified to obtain a slip stream, a clarified absorbent and a sulphur suspension. Sulphur is extracted from the later by heating to a temperature higher than the melting point of sulphur and separating the sulphur. The slip stream is fed for mixing with the gas to be purified, and the desulphurated absorbent along with the clarified absorbent and the circulating stream of regenerated absorbent are blown-off with air. The regenerated absorbent is divided into a balance stream and a circulating stream. Spent air is released into the atmosphere.
EFFECT: preventing contamination of purified gas with oxygen, preventing loss of absorbent with sulphur and reducing contamination of the gas with exhaust air.
