SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means of extending the high band of an audio signal on the low band of the audio signal. Audio signal bandwidth extension includes the following steps: extracting (S1) a set of features of the low-band audio signal; comparing (S2) extracted features with at least one high-band parameter using generalised additive modelling; frequency shifting (S3) a copy of the low-band audio signal into the high band; controlling (S4) the envelope of the frequency-shifted copy of the low-band audio signal by said at least one high-band parameter.
EFFECT: high efficiency of extending the bandwidth of an audio signal.
