FIELD: physics, optics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to super-resolution imaging. Super-resolution radar employs a pulsed signal generator which propagates bursts of radio frequency energy. One pulse of each burst is a secondary pulse, and the remaining pulses are propagated towards an object. A mesh sectioned detector collects pulses that are reflected from the object. Also, the secondary pulses are propagated through a virtual lens. A virtual scanning detector detects the virtual secondary electric field. A processor calculates a virtual secondary electric field present at the scanning detector. Further, a coincidence circuit calculates a cross-time correlation function of the electric fields of the reflected pulses that are collected by the mesh sectioned detector and the virtual secondary electric field. The coincidence circuit uses cross-time correlation function results to generate pixels of an image of the object.
EFFECT: achieving high resolution.
