FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: periodontal bulbous-end probe ball 0.5 mm in diameter is inserted into a gingival pocket within a tooth of interest. Then a ball of a smaller diameter of not less than 0.2 mm and no more than 0.4 mm is inserted. Probing depths are recorded. A gingival pocket depth is calculated by specific formula.
EFFECT: method enables diagnosing correctly, specifying a therapeutic approach, conducting a differential diagnosis of microbial and load components of periodontal injuries by means of using two periodontal bulbous-end probes with the balls of different diameters when measuring a gingival pocket depth.
