SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely dentistry; it can be used for the treatment of periodontitis of mild and moderate severity. A method includes the use of an antiseptic composition in the form of gel, containing 0.1 wt.% of polyaminopropyl biguanide, wherein the specified composition is used according to the following method: after removal of supra- and subgingival dental deposits using an ultrasonic scaler and a brush with paste, the specified composition is introduced into each periodontal pocket, heated to a temperature of 26-28°C, in the amount of 1.5-2.0 g, while its removal from the pocket is not performed, then, home use of the specified composition is prescribed in the form of applications using a universal mouth guard, while applications are carried out once a day after eating and brushing teeth with an exposure of 40 min, the course of application is 14 days.

EFFECT: use of the invention provides an increase in efficiency due to the use of a composition that does not have a locally irritating and toxic effect, minimal invasiveness and simplification of the procedure, shortening the healing time.
