FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of decomposing carbonates includes crushing raw material, decomposing the carbonates by supplying external energy, tapping the conversion gas and cooling the end product. As the carbonates siderite is used. External energy is supplied by heating siderite in a reactor with a hydrogen-containing gas. Said gas is removed from the reactor separately from the end product, fed for steam conversion of carbon monoxide, after which carbon dioxide is separated. The remaining hydrogen-containing gas is heated by an external energy source and returned into the reactor. The end product of decomposition of siderite is removed from the reactor and reduced to metallic iron in a reduction furnace with supply of the heated conversion gas, obtained by converting natural gas with heat supply from an external energy source.
EFFECT: invention reduces power consumption when decomposing carbonates, simplifies the process and improves efficiency.
