FIELD: power industry.
SUBSTANCE: method includes radiating of radioactive waste by x-ray radiation in the isolated compartment the internal surface of which is screened by lead absorbing γ-radiation, while radioactive waste is irradiated by means of the pulse x-ray devices located in the isolated compartment which radiate batches of x-ray photons of high density, about 1018 photons/s, while the absorbing spectrum frequencies, corresponding to structure of atoms of the deactivated radioactive waste are used, the activated screening material is periodically replaced by new one, placing into storages the used one and using its natural deactivation.
EFFECT: invention provides simple, accelerated, efficient and environmentally friendly deactivation of radioactive waste, and also reuse of high-valuable materials.
