SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nuclear reactor fuel assembly elements. A support grid (26) for a nuclear fuel assembly (20) having cylindrical fuel rods (28) includes a frame assembly (40) having a plurality of outer straps (44) and a plurality tubular members (50) and (or) helical frame members (70), having a contact portion (54, 55) configured to come into contact with an adjacent helical frame member (70) and at least one helical fuel rod (28) contact portion (52). The fuel rod in the helical frame member (70) touches the inner helical frame member (70) on the helical contact portion (52) of the fuel rod. The helical contact portion (52) may have a variable inclination.
EFFECT: reduced wearing between grids and fuel rods, while maintaining coolant flow, and easier assembling.
