FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: input steel blank in form of shell is heated in range of temperatures of hot pressure forming to temperature variable through the shell height. The simultaneously the head and manhole of the ball valve half casing are formed. The manhole is made by hot swaging and upsetting of the shell. Wherein the shell heating temperature at the appropriate height is determined as per specified relationships.
EFFECT: increased surface quality of the forging, minimisation of oxide scale formation, and, hence, increased tool resistance, reduced metal consumption due to forging shape and size making as close as possible to the same of the part.
