FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building, particularly, to metal forming and can be used for production of large-size bodies of ball cocks. Round billets with opening are cut from thick-wall sheet and heated to 1150-1200°C. Then, their edges are subjected to upset forging at first die to form a ledge. Note here that initial billet thickness is reduced at flange edges, that is, in zone of subsequent forming of forged piece spherical part. Now, semi-finished article is subjected to draw-forming and flanging at 950-1000°C in one die slider pass.
EFFECT: decreased consumption of metal.
