SUBSTANCE: apparatus for activation of CAN busbar subscribers includes detecting means capable of detecting at least one given property of signals transmitted in the busbar, wherein further activation is allowed depending on the behaviour of at least one detected signal property, and the characteristics or sequences of one signal property or one of multiple signal properties are at least two activation combinations, from which an alternative activation combination is used to activate a group of subscribers, and a separate activation combination is used for individual subscriber activation, the apparatus being characterised by that the alternative activation combination is encoded to allow the setting of, for each subscriber, both the separate and the alternative activation combination without additional use of configuration bits.

EFFECT: enabling controllers in a network to simultaneously activate both separate nodes and groups of nodes.
