SUBSTANCE: device for modifying an input audio signal comprises an excitation determiner, a storage device and a signal modifier. The excitation determiner determines a subband excitation parameter value from a plurality of input audio signal subbands based on subband energy content. The storage device stores a look-up table containing a plurality of spectral weighting coefficients. A spectral weighting coefficient from the plurality of spectral weighting coefficients is associated with a predetermined excitation parameter value and a subband from the plurality of subbands. The storage device provides a spectral weighting coefficient corresponding to a determined excitation parameter value and a corresponding subband, for which the excitation parameter value was determined.
EFFECT: high efficiency of modifying an audio signal while maintaining a low level of computational complexity of said modification.
