FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: perceived loudness of an audio signal is measured by modifying the spectral representation of the audio signal as a function of a reference spectral shape so that the spectral representation of the audio signal conforms more closely to the reference spectral shape, and determining the perceived loudness of the modified spectral representation of the audio signal.
EFFECT: high efficiency of objective measurement of loudness relative subjective impressions.
