SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical industry. Non-ionic cellulose ether has hydroxyethyl groups and one of properties a), b) or c): a) residual dynamic viscosity, %η80/25 - 30%, wherein %η80/25=[dynamic solution viscosity at 80°C/dynamic solution viscosity at 25°C]×100, dynamic solution viscosity is measured at 25°C and 80°C for 1% water solution; b) dynamic elastic modulus 15 Pa at 25°C and residual dynamic elastic modulus, %G'80/25 - 12%, wherein %G'80/25=[dynamic elastic modulus at 80°C/dynamic elastic modulus at 25°C]×100, dynamic elastic modulus at 25°C and 80°C is measured for 1% water solution; c) critical concentration of association lower than 15 md, measured by means of light scattering.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to reduce level of thermal liquefaction and increase thickening agent efficiency at higher temperatures.
