FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an inorganic halogen-free fire retardant made from rehydrated red mud (MR2S). The composition includes 10-50 wt % iron compounds, 12-35 wt % aluminium compounds, 5-17 wt % silicon oxide compounds, 2-21 wt % TiO2 and 0.5-6 wt % calcium compounds. The content of hydroxides and hydrated oxides in iron compounds is greater than or equal to 50 wt %, preferably greater than or equal to 80 wt % with respect to oxides in iron compounds, and the content of hydroxides and hydrated oxides in aluminium compounds is greater than or equal to 50 wt %, preferably greater than 80 wt % with respect to oxides in aluminium compounds. The present invention also relates to fire-resistant systems of components containing a combustible material and an inorganic halogen-free fire retardant, and a method for production thereof.
EFFECT: invention limits oxygen access within a combustion system which prevents prolonged combustion.
