SUBSTANCE: invention relates to compositions, based on self-extinguishing foamable vinylaromatic polymers in granules and to method for obtaining thereof. Compositions include: polymer matrix and the following components, homogeneously imbedded into polymer matrix: 3-10 wt % of foaming system; 0.005-5 wt % of brominates flame retardant; 0.001-2 wt % of synergic additive; 0.005-5 wt % of at least one stabilising additive. Stabilising additives are selected from: pyrophosphates of alkali or alkali earth metals, ammonium group or structural unit, derived from melamine; melamine polyphosphates; salts of partly or fully neutralised polycarboxylic acids; citrates of alkali or alkali earth metals; polyfunctional alcohols with two or more alcohol functions; esters of polyfunctional alcohols.
EFFECT: invention provides regulation of cellular structure of foamed polymer and increase of thermal stability of fire retardants.
