FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming, particularly, to fabrication of bimetal ribbed pipe with KLM-ribs to be used in air coolers of oil-and-gas industry, chemical industry, etc. Monofilar or bifilar helices of metal L-like band are wound on the bearing pipe. Decrease in contact thermal resistance and increase in heat transfer factor are ensured by knurling an artificial roughness composed by lengthwise corrugation of the "recess-ledge" type or pointed pyramidal corrugation prior to winding. After knurling, crimp tops are squeezed to a mushroom shape. Here, semi-open pocket originates between adjacent crimps. Said pocket is filled, at winding, with the L-like band material to the flange depth making 0.2δ1 to 0.5δ1, where δ1 is the initial depth of the L-like band flange.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of the process.
