SUBSTANCE: invention relates to automation and telemechanics on railway transport. The method includes preparatory operations and automated execution of a given cycle of procedures for operation of installed equipment. In order to expand the functionality of the set of electrical equipment for a passenger carriage and to use the standard operating mode of the equipment throughout the entire life cycle and not only during automatic operating mode during movement of the train, the life cycle of the carriage is divided into multiple modes, for which clear priorities can be selected to enable specification of a particular automatic control mode of each subsystem of the carriage separately, and to specify a single mode for all subsystems of the carriage, wherein each of the subsystems is automatically switched to that life-cycle mode.

EFFECT: safer movement and enabling automatic control of passenger carriage equipment at all life cycle phases thereof.
