FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: device comprises, mounted in a vacuum chamber in front of an electron source, a housing of the measuring device with a diaphragm inlet opening, a solenoid placed outside the housing of the measuring device and configured to generate in the vacuum chamber a magnetic field with the direction of field lines along the longitudinal axis of the housing of the measuring device, as well as a device for detecting electron distribution based on the distance from the longitudinal axis of the housing of the measuring device, placed behind the diaphragm inlet opening, the housing of the measuring device is made of a high-conductivity metal in the form of a truncated cone which faces the electron source by the base with a smaller diameter and is placed in the region without the magnetic field of the electron source in the magnetic field of the solenoid; the solenoid itself is placed at a distance from the electron source which provides the uniformity of the magnetic field from the electron source to the housing of the measuring device, and is configured to generate a pulsed magnetic field with the duration which prevents the field from penetrating the wall of the housing of the measuring device.
