FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for obtaining hydrophilic gel precursor and gel. Method includes stage of hardening matrix composition, which includes polymer photoinitiator of general formula (I) polymer-[CR2-CHR-spacer(PI)n]m (I), by its exposure to UV-radiation with obtaining hydrophilic gel precursor. In addition method includes obtaining hydrophilic gel by additional exposure of matrix composition to swelling-inducing medium. Additional exposure of matrix composition can be realised before or after its exposure to UV-radiation.
EFFECT: possibility of applying polymer photoinitiator as single matrix composition component makes it possible to exclude additives from composition components, thus reducing probability of leaching components with low molecular weight from cross-linked matrix composition.
