SUBSTANCE: sulfur-containing compound having the structure of formula (1) is described: B(V'-S-R1-S-A')z1(-V'-S-R1-SH)z2 (1), where each R1 is independently selected from C2-6 Alkanediyl , C6-8 Cycloalkanediyl, C6-10 Alkanecycloalkanediyl, C5-8 Heterocycloalkanediyl and -[-(CHR3)s-X-]q-(CHR3)r-; where each R3 is independently selected from hydrogen and methyl; Each X is independently selected from -O-, -S- and -NR-, where R is selected from hydrogen and methyl; S is an integer from 2 to 6; Q is an integer from 1 to 5; and r is an integer from 2 to 10; Each A' is independently a group formed from the reaction of compound A with a thiol group. Compound A is a compound having an end group that can react with a thiol group and an end group that enhances adhesion; wherein the adhesion enhancing group is selected from a silane having the structure -Si(R5)y1(OR6)y2, phosphonate, amine, carboxylic acid and phosphonic acid; where y1 is selected from 0, 1 and 2; y2 is selected from 1, 2 and 3; the sum of y1 and y2 is 3; and each R5 is independently selected from C1-4 Alkyl; and each R6 is independently selected from C1-4 Alkyl; B is the center of the z-valent polyfunctional compound B(-V)z with alkenyl end groups, where z is the sum of z1 and z2 and z is an integer from 3 to 6; z1 is an integer from 1 to 4; z2 is an integer from 2 to 5; and each -V is a fragment including an end group that can react with a thiol group; Each -V'- represents a group formed by the reaction of each -V with a thiol group. A sealant composition comprising at least one above-mentioned compound, at least one sulfur-containing polymer with thiol end groups, and at least one curing agent, is also described. A cured sealant comprising the above composition is described, an opening sealed using a sealant containing the above composition is described, and a method for sealing the opening is described.
EFFECT: increasing the adhesion of the sealant to the substrate, while retaining its other useful properties.
