SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of encoding an audio signal and means of carrying out said method. An encoding concept, which is linear prediction-based using spectral decomposition of an input audio signal to compute linear prediction coefficients, uses spectral domain noise shaping based on the computed linear prediction coefficients. The coding efficiency may remain even if such a lapped transform is used for the spectral decomposition which causes aliasing and necessitates time aliasing cancellation such as critically sampled lapped transforms such as an MDCT.

EFFECT: providing a coding concept which enables to reduce complexity with comparable or even higher coding efficiency.
