FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to devices for controlling the frequency band in encoders and decoders. The encoder has a set of frequency domain encoder tools, FD, for encoding an information signal, the information signal representing a set of frames. Additionally, the encoder has a device for detecting and controlling the encoder frequency band configured to select the frequency band at least for a subgroup of the set of the FD encoder tools. Moreover, the specified subgroup includes fewer FD encoder tools than a set of the FD encoder tools, based on the characteristics of the information signal in such a way so that at least one of the FD encoder tools from the specified subgroup has a different frequency band relative to at least one of the FD encoder tools that are not in the specified subgroup.
EFFECT: invention improves the efficiency of coding.
