SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means which generate an upmix signal representation based on a downmix signal representation using object-oriented parametric information and taking into account audio rendering data. An audio encoder includes an object parameter determiner, which generates inter-object correlation values for a plurality of pairs of audio objects, which determines from a bitstream signal parameter a choice between calculating separate inter-object correlation parameter values in the bitstream to derive inter-object correlation values of a plurality of pairs of interrelated audio objects and deriving inter-object correlation values of the plurality of pairs of interrelated audio objects from the inter-object correlation parameter value common for the bitstream. An audio decoder also includes a signal processor which generates an upmix signal representation based on a downmix signal representation.

EFFECT: improved quality of the acoustic signature.
