FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: dicarboxylic acid and diamine salt is used as a clay-swelling inhibitor in an aqueous medium in a drilling fluid or hydraulic fracturing fluid, the said dicarboxylic acid having the following formula: HOOC-A-COOH, wherein A is a covalent bond or a divalent hydrocarbon group, aliphatic, saturated or unsaturated, straight or branched, the backbone chain of which, located between two terminal COOH groups, contains 1-3 carbon atoms.
EFFECT: high efficiency of inhibiting clay swelling while simultaneously reducing hazard for humans and the environment.
