FIELD: nanotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of aerogel based on multilayer carbon nanotubes in the form of articles with controlled form, in particular balls, cubes, plates, tetrahedrons, toroids, cylinders, polyhedrons, prisms, which can be used for coating, absorbing and/or reflecting electromagnetic radiation, sound-absorbing materials, as well as carriers of biologically active objects. Method of producing of aerogels based on multilayer carbon nanotubes is characterised by that the catalyst for synthesis of multilayer carbon nanotubes is formed and/or is placed in a matrix and treated with carbon-containing reagents in the reactor at temperature not higher than 900 °C, as a result a three-dimensional openwork structure based on multilayer carbon nanotubes with density less than 100 mg/cm3 is obtained. Catalyst and/or a mixture of catalysts, which allow to obtain nanotubes of various diameter, which leads to production of aerogel-with polymodal distribution along the diameter of the nanotubes are used as catalyst for synthesis of multilayer carbon nanotubes. Shape of articles made from aerogel based on multilayer carbon nanotubes is set by initial geometrical shape of the catalyst.
EFFECT: technical result consists in creation of aerogel with specified characteristics based on multilayer carbon nanotubes directly during their growth.
