FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a polymer film, whose surface is covered with a layer of inorganic nanocoating, which provides improvements such as an improved capacity for metallisation, low cost, low content of polymer additives and modifiers, higher suitability for recycling and good rolling properties. Also disclosed is a method for priming a flexible film substrate to enhance reactivity and wettability of substrate for metallisation. Film substrate is coated with a nanolayer of silicon dioxide applied by CCVD and/or PECVD in an open atmosphere. Deposited coating enhances surface energy of film substrate and reduces surface gauge variation of substrate or supporting film, thereby enhancing wettability of film substrate for metallisation with aluminium and/or to improve anti-adhesive characteristics of film.
EFFECT: deposited coating may also act as a barrier layer for lowering permeability of light, gas and vapour.
