FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of polystyrene compositions based on polystyrene and petroleum bitumen. Obtained polystyrene compositions can be used as binder when producing composite materials, industrial and civil construction for roofing, waterproofing works in road construction as binder for repair of asphalt concrete pavements. Method of producing polystyrene compositions comprises thermal polymerisation of styrene in medium of petroleum bitumen at temperature 120-180 °C for 0.5-3 h at following ratio of components in composition, wt%: styrene-25-50, petroleum bitumen - balance.

EFFECT: reducing duration of process, as well as possibility of carrying out process of preparing compositions in continuous mode and reduced cost of obtained composition.
