FIELD: measurement technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to thermal characteristics measurement of physical media and can be used in marine biology and chemistry for calculation of temperature conditions of biological objects and clinical course of chemical reactions in upper layer of bottom sediments under varying temperature of water layer. Method involves measuring and recording of temperature on two levels in bottom sediments and temperature of bottom water layer during 12-15 hours, followed by calculation of equivalent thermal diffusivity (a eq) by formula а e q = T t 2 T z 2 , where ∂T is temperature change; ∂t is time, ∂z is change of depth from sediment surface. Essence of method is based on using sea tides as natural heat source, temperature of which periodically varies in time, delivering maximum of tide colder near-bottom water from large depths in less deep areas of water bodies.

EFFECT: high accuracy of measuring equivalent temperature conductivity of bottom soil.
