FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building, specifically to methods and devices for determining coordinates of centre of mass, primarily of large-size articles. Method consists in that article is mounted on an adapter pivotally mounted on three legs, and article is equilibrated with adapter by bringing into a state of unstable equilibrium relative to tilt axis through joints of the first poles. Installing article on adapter with a deliberate offset from tilt axis, balancing article with adapter is performed by tilting adapter with article using drive of third support at different positions of article relative to tilt axis, upon achieving state of unstable equilibrium, measuring tilt angle of adapter. In addition, measuring tilt angle of adapter with article in a state of unstable equilibrium with adapter attached to load with known weight and position of centre of mass. Device for implementing method comprises an adapter for installing article, pivotally connected with three legs, one of which has a movable portion configured to move vertically by a drive, tilt sensor for adapter relative to an axis passing through hinge of first two columns, rotary platform on adapter, axis of rotation of which is crossed with tilt axis and separated from it by a predetermined distance. Adapter is also equipped with a removable load with a known weight and position of centre of mass is attached to adapter at a certain distance from tilt axis. Adapter is balanced relative to tilt axis.
EFFECT: technical result consists in expansion of measurement range of mass and centre of mass, high measurement accuracy.
