FIELD: biotechnology.

SUBSTANCE: surface-treated calcium carbonate for binding and biological treatment of hydrocarbon-contaminated environments is proposed, as well as its use and method of binding and biological treatment of hydrocarbon-contaminated environments. The surface-treated calcium carbonate has a decomposition coefficient of the hydrocarbon-containing composition of 25% relative to the total weight of the hydrocarbon-containing composition. At least on the 10% of the surface area of calcium carbonate the coating is applied, comprising an aliphatic carboxylic acid having 5-24 carbon atoms, and/or by-products of reaction of calcium carbonate with the said carboxylic acid. The surface-treated calcium carbonate additionally comprises microorganisms decomposing the components of the hydrocarbon-containing composition. The method of binding hydrocarbons and biological treatment of hydrocarbon-contaminated environments comprises contact of the hydrocarbon-containing composition contained in the environment with the surface-treated calcium carbonate. The hydrocarbon-containing composition is a crude oil, gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel, oil for hydraulic systems, kerosene, and their mixtures. The surface-treated calcium carbonate is used for treatment of hydrocarbon-contaminated soil, sea water, underground water, flat-lying water, coastlines, containers and tanks.
