FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for bacterial stabilisation of aqueous ground natural calcium carbonate and/or precipitated calcium carbonate and/or dolomite and/or mineral compositions containing surface-modified calcium carbonate, and can be used in paper, dye, rubber and plastic industries. The method includes using at least one primary alkanolamine with a monoatomic alcohol residue as a compound which enhances biocidal activity of at least one aldehyde-containing and/or aldehyde-releasing and/or phenol and/or isothiazoline biocide. The amount of the biocide ranges from 90 to 1350 ppm and the amount of alkanolamine ranges from 600 to 1200 ppm, calculated with respect to the weight of the aqueous phase of said composition.

EFFECT: present invention provides reliable biocidal stabilisation of compositions containing calcium carbonate.
