FIELD: nuclear physics and equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technology of decommissioning uranium-graphite nuclear reactors, namely, to the technology of creating safety barriers at radioactive wastes disposal sites. Method of cavity filling reactor space during decommissioning of uranium-graphite nuclear reactors, according to which barrier material is pre-sieved in plant. Sifted barrier material is dried by compressed air flow at temperature (50–200) °C and directed through sieve system with different pitch into tube perforated from lower end, installed in filled reactor space, inside which there are metal balls. Metal balls are exposed to an alternating magnetic field generated by an inductance coil on the outer surface of the pipe. Fused barrier material is ground by impact action of metal balls and injected under pressure into filled reactor spaces. By means of vibration created by the perforated pipe, the formed hills are moved apart and the barrier material is compacted.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to form uniform artificial safety barriers inside reactor spaces of identical density.
