FIELD: weapons and ammunition.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ammunition, particularly to sub-calibre active projectiles for smooth-bore guns and method of firing same. Rocket-assisted projectile comprises subcalibre body with tail part, jet engine, a stabiliser with rigid fins and discharge master device. Jet engine includes housing with combustion chamber and fuel charge. Jet engine housing is connected with body tail part. Discharge master device comprises centering device mounted on resulting stabiliser, tray with a bottom and obturating band. Tray is made to ensure entry of charge powder gases into combustion chamber of jet engine. Method of firing rocket-assisted projectile comprises throwing a projectile with powder gases from smooth-bore weapon, separation of master device in preset moment, fixation and maintaining or deceleration fall velocity of a shell by means of jet engine.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of projectile.
