METHOD FOR ASSESSING DEGREE OF HEPATIC FIBROSIS IN INFANTS BY APRI INDEX Russian patent published in 2016 - IPC G01N33/50

Abstract RU 2585387 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, to pressing problem of modern health care, pediatrics section and can be used to assess severity of hepato-biliary system in infants and young children and severity of liver fibrosis. Inventive method of estimating severity of fibrosis comprises taking blood from child in morning on an empty stomach from peripheral vein to determine AST enzyme levels and platelet counts. Calculating APRI index by formula (1), with already known figure of upper normal value of AST in young children, which is 43.88 U/L. In clinical studies, method of discriminant analysis, it was found that rate of APRI index was significantly correlated with a high degree of fibrosis (F3) in infants who underwent liver biopsy under general anesthesia, which is regarded as diagnostic surgery. It was found that rate of APRI index in infants with liver cirrhosis (F4) assumed significantly high values of more than 2.45. In children without cirrhosis APRI index has value less than 1.5.

EFFECT: invention allows to calculate APRI index in young children, with help of which can be non-invasively without a liver biopsy as accurately as possible, available and affordable to monitor progression of fibrosis, predict outcomes, promptly appoint a treatment and monitor treatment results.
