SUBSTANCE: described is conformal filter having multiple layers of sorbent, oriented perpendicular to inner side surface of filter, which corresponds to adjacent surface, such as face of user when it is attached to respirator. Inner side of filter can almost match shape mating surface. As sorbent layers are oriented perpendicular to inner side surface, conformal configuration can be achieved without bending layers of sorbent and retention time of stay layer along whole cross section area of air flow, thus providing uniform distribution of air. Other versions are described and claimed.
EFFECT: reduced thickness of layer is also achieved through this configuration, which, hence, reduces total pressure drop through filter.
