FIELD: biochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of biochemistry and more particularly to a method for imparting to at least partial resistance or to enhance plant resistance against infection with Phytophthora infestans, a nucleic acid capable of providing resistance to Phytophthora infestans, as well as an expression constraction, the cells and vectors containing the above nucleic acid. Also disclosed is a method for producing a tetraploid plant, which is a plant of the family Solanaceae, Phytophthora infestans resistant using the above nucleic acid. Invention also relates to plants resistant to Phytophthora infestans and parts thereof. Also disclosed is a protein capable of enhancing resistance to Phytophthora infestans.
EFFECT: invention can effectively impart or improve plant resistance against infection of Phytophthora infestans.
