SUBSTANCE: invention relates to techniques to authenticate and/or identify protected articles, particularly documents. Disclosed is method for authentication of protected article. Method includes step of combining, at least partially, first image of article with second image, created by electronic image shaper. Further, according to method relative displacement of first and second images so that to provide possibility of monitoring of authentication information element for protected article during relative movement of first and second images. During relative movement of first and second image animation is observed or movement effect, particularly movement effect or animation of overlapping images.

EFFECT: technical result is obtaining authentication and/or identification information on protected article by observation of movement effect or animation of overlapping images.
