SUBSTANCE: method of protecting documents involves a step for printing a distribution of points on said document, wherein during said printing, as a result of random deviation from point to point, there is unforeseen change in at least one geometric characteristic of printed points; a step for forming said distribution of points, preceding said printing step, which is carried out such that points of said distribution have at least one geometric characteristic which varies from point to point, wherein the geometric amplitude of the created change has the same order as the value of said unforeseen change.
EFFECT: high efficiency of unique identification and authentication of documents.
