MAGNETIC FLAW DETECTOR FOR DETECTING DEFECTS IN WELDS Russian patent published in 2016 - IPC G01N27/72

Abstract RU 2587695 C1

FIELD: oil and gas industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for nondestructive inspection of technical state of oil-gas pipelines. Present invention consists in that a magnetic flaw detector, on which are installed magnets of two belts of brushes of ferromagnetic material in contact with inner surface of pipeline, between belts brushes made from ferromagnetic material in form of a ring on wear-resistant bases are units consisting of eddy current sensors and constant magnetic field gradient sensor, which in turn consists of two magnetically sensitive elements which are semiconductor converters of magnetic field displaced at a certain distance relative to each other in direction perpendicular to controlled surface, wherein distance is considerably shorter than interference length, wherein system used consists of two eddy current sensors, planes of which are perpendicular to each other and guide of controlled pipeline, wherein amplitude-phase diagnostic data processing is used.

EFFECT: improving detection and dimensioning of small-size of defects and defects in weld seams.
