SUBSTANCE: method for automatic detection of targets can be used when upgrading and designing of samples of infantry military equipment. Summary of invention consists in fact that in method for automatic detection of targets using laser radar, which consists in guidance operator by means of its electro-optical sight of laser locator on expected target, its formation of probing pulse, reception and processing by receiving device of laser radiation reflected from optical-electronic target device and issuing signal about presence or absence of target, wherein probing pulse contains coded information of target requester system identification receiving device, system of identification, installed on target belonging to own troops, receives and processes obtained encoded probing pulse and sends response coded radio signal, acknowledging target belonging to own forces. Requester system state identification receives coded radio signal and informs operator on belonging of target to own forces, while with absence of target acknowledgement coded radio signal informs operator on belonging of target to the enemy.

EFFECT: realisation of simultaneous functions of automatic detection and identification of targets, which ultimately reduces time for solving the problem of fire, elimination of random fire and hitting own forces.
