FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to processing fine red mud based on metal oxides and silicon compounds. In disclosed method milling is performed with simultaneous separation of red mud into metal oxides and silicon oxides by passing red mud through a disintegrator with rotating electromagnetic field with frequency of rotation in range of 110-130 Hz and intensity of 100 to 160 A/m. Water is then removed, and dry residue is fed for separation by means of magnetic field into magnetic and nonmagnetic fractions.
EFFECT: simplified method with simultaneous increase of efficiency of red mud processing, specifically increase in output of iron oxide, titanium oxide, silicon oxides.
