FIELD: chemistry; metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical and metallurgical industry and can be used for complex processing of fine-dispersed metal-containing wastes, in particular for processing of red mud, as well as ash-slag wastes of coal thermal power plants. Method includes step mixing metal-containing wastes with water activated by magnetic field to pulp state and stage of action on pulp in reaction chamber by rotating magnetic field formed by rotating ferromagnetic elements. At that, stage of action on pulp by rotating magnetic field is carried out in the vortex layer at ferromagnetic elements rotation speed of not less than 2,800 rpm before occurrence of effect of magnetostriction and subsequent reduction of metal oxides. After that hydrocyclone separation stage is performed.
EFFECT: technical result of invention consists in increased efficiency of waste processing due to extraction of target products at elimination of gel component and double electric layer in red sludge, and elimination of double electric layer in ash-and-slag wastes.
