FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to device for protection of catalytic neutraliser and to method of protection of catalytic neutraliser for internal combustion engine. Device for protection of catalyst comprises: catalytic converter cleaning exhaust gases; unit for gathering data on layer temperature configured to obtain data on catalyst layer temperature for each of multiple catalyst areas along flow of exhaust gases; and fuel injection unit configured for fuel injection when determining need to increase amount of injected fuel for each of regions on the basis of corresponding catalyst layers temperature, in amount, which includes sum of increments of values required for corresponding regions.
EFFECT: efficient protection against overheating in compliance with actual temperature distribution in catalytic neutraliser.
