SUBSTANCE: method comprises the adjustment of the setpoint for the detector element that is downstream located on the basis of the change rate of the mass air flow that is upstream of the engine located. The method also comprises the adjustment of the fuel injection in order to regulate the fuel-air ratio (FAR) on the downstream located detector element in response to the adjusted setpoint and to regulate the FAR of the exhaust gases on the upstream located detector element in response to the setpoint of the downstream located detector element.
EFFECT: catalytic oxidiser or electronating agent saturation preclusion, CO and NOx abatement and fuel saving improvement.
