FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: present group of inventions refers to medicine, namely to a device for delivering a medicament to a patient and a method for ameliorating pain related to head and/or facial pain. Device (54) for delivering a medicament to a patient in need thereof comprises an injector (56), an introducer, a connecting hub (66) and inducer (62) body (70). Injector (56) comprises the first end (58) that remains outside a nasal passage of the patient, and the second end (60) configured to be inserted into the nasal passage of the patient. Introducer (62) is designed to engage with a patient's nostril and comprises a curved channel (64), configured to accommodate the said injector (56), which can move in the introducer (62) between a storage position and an engaging position. Introducer (62) has a curved part adjacent to curved passageway (64). Said connecting hub (66) is connected with the injector (56) and is configured to receive a syringe, containing a medicament for administering. First end of the introducer (62) body (70) remains outside the nasal passage of the patient. Second end of the introducer (62) body (70) has a curved part. Body (70) is designed to accommodate, in the longitudinal direction, the connecting hub (66) and the syringe, connected to the connecting hub (66). Method for ameliorating head or facial pain in a patient include introducing the injector of the said device for delivering a medicament to a patient in need thereof through the nasal passage of the patient so that the second end of the injector goes into a region substantially medial and/or posterior and/or inferior to a sphenopalatine ganglion of the patient; and delivering a medicament from the injector superiorly and/or laterally and/or anteriorly towards the sphenopalatine ganglion.
EFFECT: inventions provide a safer and more efficient SPG block and can be used by the patient without any assistance and observation by a trained specialist.
