SUBSTANCE: medium for printing, which has a base and a layer for reception of paint; at that, the layer for paint reception contains colloidal silica, zirconium compound, ammonium salt and hydroxycarboxylic acid, and 90% or more of colloidal silica, contained in the layer for paint reception, varies from 0 nm or more to 300 nm or less in the direction to the depth from the outer surface of the medium for printing.

EFFECT: invention provides a medium for printing, having excellent glossiness and resistance to scratching.
