FIELD: meteorology.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to meteorology, namely to methods for detecting stormy weather in the ocean. According to the method for detecting storm in the ocean from a satellite the ocean surface is exposed to optical radiation and a reflected signal is received. Area of storm presence is determined by the ratio of the power of the total reflected spectrum of white radiation and narrow-band sections of near-infrared region at the wave length of 0.72; 0.82; 0.93; 1.13 micrometers.
EFFECT: technical result: simplified determination of storm zones in the ocean.
